CHANGE IS POSSIBLE...

My Approach

Roger Baerwolf
MA, LMHC

I specialize in supporting couples and adults in creating meaningful relationships through lasting change.

Whether you're experiencing a crisis or conflict with a partner, wishing to feel more like a lover than a roommate, working through a rough patch with a co-parent, or seeking greater emotional connection with your best self, your children, or others, I can probably help.

My intention is to create space in which we will discuss your needs and goals, identify your strengths, and explore your connection with yourself and others. From there we will work together to identify problematic patterns and challenging dynamics, develop new patterns of thinking and feeling, and build new skills for repairing and connecting so you can spend less time reacting and more time interacting.

In considering if I'm the right fit for you, it may be helpful to know that I also have substantial personal work experience in tech. I have experienced and understand the demands of the field, and have helped a wide variety of individuals, their partners, and families find better balance.

Allow me to join you on a path of discovery as we collaborate to explore your thoughts and feelings, and help you increase your inner balance. From a strong center, you can create change that fosters greater connection with yourself and others, and enhance your capacity to manage what comes your way. While we all have different paths through life, we don't have to take them alone. Let's see what we can do together.

COUPLES THERAPY

Finding Growth and Fulfillment in Relationship

Couples sometimes find themselves stuck in their relationship, and wonder why. Couples who work with me find that my intention is to help them to do more than just improve their communication skills. Together we identify unhelpful patterns that limit the relationship's potential and alter them to build a foundation of safety, trust, love, and encouragement upon which both partners can grow and develop throughout their lifetime together.

FAMILY THERAPY

Building Unity and
Mutual Support

Family therapy sessions can be powerfully healing because useful change can happen in a short amount of time. As a systemically-oriented therapist, I specialize in working with your entire family to notice problematic patterns, behaviors, and thinking, and help the members make changes that shift them toward more productive and fulfilling interactions that help bring the entire family closer together.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Healing and Connecting with Yourself and Others

What would it be like for you to have additional support as you walk life's path; someone to help you sort out the tough spots, recover from the sorrows, manage the scary bits, and find new ways to not only cope, but to thrive? I would like to support you as you make meaning of your experiences and develop skills that help you more mindfully connect with your best self and others for a more meaningful and rewarding life.

“...striving to find a meaning in one's life is the primary motivational force in man.”

POLICIES AND FEES

Whether you're new to counseling or not, you may have questions. I’m committed to giving patients the best care and experience I can, so I've addressed some common topics below. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any additional questions.

I look forward to meeting you.

What is Therapy Like?

Therapy is a process that allows us to slow down, contemplate, reflect, and with the help of a therapist, more carefully notice how our feelings, thoughts, and behaviors may feel stuck or unhelpful. We then work together to identify how these patterns arose, and learn how to open up a gap between our reactions and our responses that allow us to step in and intervene with ourselves. With this understanding, we can make more helpful choices that lead to better and stronger relationships with ourselves and others.

You set the pace of the work and you can always let me know if you want us to make adjustments. My intention is for the process to be a comfortable, secure, safe, and encouraging one.

Fees and Billing

I offer free initial 30 minute consultations to help us decide if we're a good fit to work together.

Therapy for individuals: $150 per session hour. Couples or families: $175.00 per session hour.

I accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, HSA, and Discover cards.

Insurance for Individual Counseling

I accept: Premera, LifeWise, First Choice Health, and Kaiser PPO (not HMO)

Out-of-Network Services
If you want to use an insurance I don't accept, I can provide you with an invoice that you may submit to your insurance provider for Out-of-Network counseling services. I do not guarantee your insurance will reimburse you for my services and you are responsible for the full fee at time of service. It is important that you contact your insurance company prior to the first session to verify that it will provide reimbursement, to understand how Out-of-Network reimbursement works, and to learn how much you will need to pay toward your deductible before insurance begins to pay.

Insurance for Couple/Partner Counseling

While I do accept the insurances above for individuals, the insurances I take do not cover couple/partner counseling when the focus of treatment is the relationship itself. While the challenges couples/partners face may lead members to experience symptoms of, for instance, anxiety and/or depression, I do not believe it serves them well to pathologize/diagnose a single member when both or all have co-created the issues at-hand. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Where are You Located?

My office is located in the Bellefield Office Park just off of the SE 8th Ave exit in Bellevue, WA, and is easily accessible from Redmond, Kirkland, Totem Lake, and Newcastle. It is 12 minutes from Microsoft's Redmond campus, 6 minutes from Amazon's Everest offices, 11 minutes from the University of Washington campus, and 13 minutes from Issaquah. Parking is plentiful and free.
I conduct my appointments both in-person and via private and secure telehealth video sessions.
