Common Questions

Do you accept insurance?

I am a private-pay therapist and do not bill insurance directly.

If your plan includes out-of-network mental-health benefits, I can provide a monthly superbill that you may submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement is determined by your plan and is not guaranteed. You are responsible for the full session fee at the time of service.

Before beginning therapy, contact your insurer to ask about out-of-network psychotherapy benefits, reimbursement rates, and any deductible that may apply.

What is therapy like and how do I prepare for my first session?

Therapy gives us space to slow down and look carefully at the thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationship patterns that may feel stuck or unhelpful.

You set the pace and can always ask to adjust how we are working. My role is to create a respectful and encouraging process while also helping us stay engaged with what needs attention.

There is no preparation required. We begin with a quiet conversation to establish a safe space and understand your goals. Your first session is an intentional conversation, not a test.

Are sessions confidential?

Your privacy is central to our work. Therapy is confidential, with exceptions permitted or required by law. I will explain those limits and my policies before we begin.

Where are sessions held?

Sessions are available in person at my Bellevue office and through secure telehealth for clients located anywhere in Washington state.

The office is in Bellefield Office Park, with free parking and convenient access from Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Seattle, Issaquah, and surrounding Eastside communities.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

If you do not have insurance or are not using insurance, federal law gives you the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of non-emergency care. You may request an estimate before scheduling, and one will also be provided as required by law.

If a bill is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may have the right to dispute it. Learn more at CMS.gov/nosurprises.

How do I get started?

Begin with a complimentary 30-minute consultation either in person or via telehealth. We can talk briefly about what brings you to therapy, what you hope will change, and whether working together seems like a good fit.
